Emotionally Intelligent Leadership

Drive Employee Engagement

In 2012, Genos International assessed the emotional intelligence of 100 of IBM’s company leaders from the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. At the same time, Genos assessed the engagement of the 438 employees reporting to these leaders. The results of the study showed that leaders with a high emotional intelligence score had highly engaged employees, while leaders with lower emotional intelligence scores had employees who were either disengaged — or even actively disengaged. The Genos Leadership Model of Emotional Intelligence is an exceptionally effective way to both assess and develop the emotional intelligence and engagement of leaders as well as employees.

Build a Productive Workforce

Employees with higher demonstrated EI cooperate more effectively, adapt more quickly, and are more adept at solving problems. Emotionally intelligent salespeople sell more, emotionally intelligent leaders create healthier work environments, and emotionally intelligent contributors are more focused and engaged.
An EI and sales study conducted at L’Oréal found that employees with high EI skills outsold other salespeople by $91,370 on an annual basis, which resulted in a net revenue increase of $2,558,360. The turnover rate of the employees hired for their strong EI skills was 63% lower than that of the employees selected through a standard hiring procedure.

The Skillset of the Future

The most sought after employees in the new era of work are those who are adaptable and flexible - those who can connect, communicate and collaborate productively. In a world where technological innovation is increasingly replacing routine tasks and artificial intelligence is more incorporated into positions at all levels, emotional intelligence is the key differentiator between the best leaders and contributors and the rest.
